Auburn Quarry Adopt-a-Crag
Join CRAGS as we begin a new phase of stewardship projects at Auburn Quarry. Our first trail day will be part introduction and orientations to our upcoming projects and part work day. We'll be rebuilding rock baskets and retaining walls and cleaning up the main staging/picnic areas at the Auburn Quarry. Look out for more info on this project coming soon!

Minors must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
Please leave ALL dogs at home.

Lovers Leap Access Fund Trail Work - 07/27 - 08/11
Join CRAGS – the Sacramento & Highway 50 Climbers’ Coalition - and the Access Fund Conservation Team West for the 2024 trail work season at Lover’s Leap. With help from the Tahoe and Bay Area Climbers’ Coalitions (TCC and BACC), REI and other organizations, we have volunteer opportunities available and we need your help!
As part of our ongoing multi-year project to stabilize and improve the trail infrastructure at the three principal climbing areas in the Highway 50 corridor – Sugarloaf, Phantom Spires and Lover’s Leap – CRAGS is working with the Access Fund over several weeks this summer at Lover’s Leap, starting at the base of Lower Buttress, completing work on the landing platforms and staircases below Surrealistic Pillar and surrounding climbs.
Dates - We are looking for volunteers to join us for several volunteer days this season:
Saturday, July 27 @9am with BACC
Thursday, August 1 @5pm “afterwork” with TCC
Saturday, August 3 @9am with BACC
Wednesday, August 7 time TBD with REI employees*
Saturday, August 10 @9am with TCC → Party to follow!

Saturday August 10 at 6pm for Lover’s Fest Annual Fundraiser!
Join us for the 2nd annual summer season “Lover’s Fest” party at Strawberry Station General Store, hosted by Lover’s Leap Guides and your local climbers’ coalition and trailwork sponsor CRAGS.
There will be food - WE'RE ROASTING A WHOLE PIG - plus burgers and dogs and non-meat options. We’ll have cold non-alcoholic drinks sponsored by Adidas Terrex 5.10 and cold “Love the Leap” West Coast IPA beer brewed special for all of you from sponsor Touchstone Brewing Company!
We have an awesome raffle with prizes from many of our sponsors (see poster below), plus we’ll have music and other festivities.

CRAGS Board Meeting & Rocklin Quarry Clean Up
CRAGS is taking our June board meeting outside to Rocklin Quarry (Deer Creek Park). Join us for some general clean up, socializing, and board-related discussion for upcoming activities.
Please bring water and snacks as the board will not be providing refreshments. We will have a supply of gloves, trash bags and other clean up necessities. Bring your gear as we plan to wrap up the evening with some bouldering as time and interest allows.
Vacaville bouldering - cleanup trail day
UPDATE 04/15/24: Rescheduled to 4/20/2024.
Join CRAGS and BACC for a joint cleanup trail day and social climb at our local Central Valley bouldering hub in Vacaville.
We’ll meet at the Woodcrest boulders parking areas (Google maps link) and visit the Woodcrest and maybe Hillcrest boulders for some trash cleanups minor trail maintenance around bouldering areas and some social time. Get to know your fellow local climbing stewards and learn from our board members some of the common access issues and advocacy solutions we use in our work with local climbing areas.
Details:
Bring boots/shoes socks and pants that can get muddy. And bring a change of clothes for after. CRAGS will provide trash bags, gloves safety glasses and trail tools. Feel free to bring your own gloves if you prefer.
Please bring food and water and layers appropriate for the forecast.
Please note that if it is raining or has rained within about 48 hours trails will be very slippery. Please plan accordingly.
CRAGS will provide some snacks, extra water and first aid gear.
