Iconic climbing area for the Tahoe area.

Access: HWY 50, stop in Silverfork just after School Rd. The climbing area, and the Pony Express Trail that passes below it, are both in Eldorado National Forest, but access to the Pony Express Trail and climbing areas uses public right of ways over private land, please avoid crossing over private property.

Parking: Park as far off the highway as possible; take care crossing the highway and stay on the trails.

Facilities: No camping. No restrooms or water, please pack everything out as this is a residential area. Please use the bathrooms at the Kyburz 76 Gas Station.

Food & Drink: Pack it all in and out. Gas stations are nearby. No facilities or water once you leave the highway.

Falcon Closures: *Peregrine Falcons are nesting on West Chimney* PLEASE AVOID ALL routes on around West Chimney including TM’s Deviation and other routes accessed from these. Please avoid West Chimney, TM’s Deviation, Hard Right, Mackerel Sky, Pan Dulce.

All falcon closures are temporary and will be lifted as soon as possible pending local regulations and monitoring of the behavioral ecological conditions of the birds. Please remember that drones should not be flown in areas with nesting closures, thanks.
