CRAGS have focused much attention on the quarry in Auburn, now known as Cave Valley, and have had many successes over the years. When CRAGS was originally formed in 2008, climbing had been prohibited at the quarry. Within five years of deliberation, climbing on the weekends was granted with supervision. We worked to get a restroom and garbage receptacles placed on location, along with a regular pick up. In 2014, with close contact between CRAGS, the Parks Department, and hundreds of volunteer hours, we were able to open the Cave Valley climbing area to climbing 7 days a week, with no monitor restrictions. We are still not done yet, and many more projects and improvements are needed for this local sport climbing area.
